I love teaching yoga outside. As you may already know. I love yoga classes outdoors because it’s an opportunity to reconnect with nature in a mindful way. Taking a walk is easy, but it’s easier to bring your phone with you. It’s tempting to view the beauty of nature through your camera. There are a million things that conspire to take our attention away from the present, literally and mentally.
But doing yoga outside seems to enhance the experience. There are some discomforts, like temperature, bugs, and things like that. But the overall experience remains one of tuning in to yourself. Feeling the sunlight, tasting a breeze, smelling the trees, hearing distant sounds, seeing the sky.
September Through October Yoga Classes Outdoors
I’m so excited to announce that I’ll be leading 4 yoga classes this fall outdoors! Here are the details:
- Dates: September 3 and 17; October 15 and 29
- Time: 9am – 10am
- Place: Valley View Park in Oak Park Heights, Minnesota. We’ll meet by the shelter and choose a place to practice that meets the needs of the group.
- Cost: pay what you can either in cash onsite or contact free via Paypal or Venmo.
Signing up through Eventbrite ensures that you’ll receive any relevant communication about the class. Cancellations, moving to a different spot, anything like that will be communicated via email.
I’m really excited to take things outside again, and extra excited to do this in the fall. I’ve taught through the summer before, and it’s been great. But adding on this fall edition–my favorite season–in a wooded area should yield a unique experience.
Dress for the weather, grab an older yoga mat, and if you just feel like taking savasana the whole time? Fine with me. See you there =D
