Do you remember the 21st night of September?
Love was changin’ the minds of pretenders
Earth Wind & Fire
Sorry for the obligatory September reference. But it’s pretty fundamental.
I’m writing this not in an ideal situation. Basically, my toddler refused to fall asleep for her nap until I started rocking with her, and now she’s asleep and I’m afraid to put her down in case she wakes up and then we’re in for a real treat for the rest of this Saturday.
I’m working on accepting that things won’t always look like the way I think they should. Like toddler napping, and writing blog posts on my phone. I’m trying to give myself grace for these things but, I have to say, today I’m really feeling more of the rage side of things. I don’t want to spend my afternoon sitting in a chair with a hot, heavy toddler rolling around on me, but I also don’t want to deal with a crabby one all day. I don’t want to type out a sequence without workshopping on my mat, but I need to get something in order because I don’t know when I’ll have time again before class. I want to hear my playlist but I can’t play it without risking waking up the baby. It’s exhausting and depressing to think that this is life now. I’m a giant pillow, and then I’m a playmate, and then a cook, and then a pillow again for bedtime.
Have I complained enough yet? This is the frame of mind with which I created this month’s yoga flow. Onto September.
